HMS Belfast

Jacob and I went to see the HMS Belfast moored on the South Bank of the Thames River in London. HMS Belfast was a fast-intercept “Town-class” cruiser commissioned just before the start of World War 2. She spent much time escorting convoys through the North Sea to the Soviet Union, participated in the Battle of North Cape and supported the D-day landings in 1944.
Today the Belfast is part of the Imperial War Museum, Jacob’s favourite “New-seum”. She has been, or is the process of being, restored to her post-war configuration from the 1950’s, and hosts over 250,000 visitors per year.
Jacob really enjoyed himself, as you’ll be able to tell from the following pictures.
